Earthquakes, Tsunamis In Japan.

We all awoke to the news that an earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter Scale has devasted Japan this morning, north of Tokyo.  Tsunamis follow the shattering earthquake.  It has been one hell of a start to 2011 in the natural disasters theme.

This earthquake is considered the worst in Japan since 300 years.  It must be terrifying to live through such an ordeal not knowing if you are going to come out alive or not.  I feel very sorry for the people of Japan who are affected.  And I guess the after tremors are yet to come.  My goodness there has been a lot of problems out there in the Pacific.

Australia, my home country, has had a great lot of natural disasters this year and the people are already on their way to rebuilding and recovery in such a short time.  Christchurch in New Zealand has also been recently devastated and an entire third of this city is uninhabitable.

Earthquake specialists and seismologists must be having a field day although it is absolutely devastating for the people.  The world watches and waits and hopes………..

We must pool together and help one another when these disasters occur.

  1. I’m watching now on BBC World the horror that is happening in Japan. How terrible for those poor people. Let’s hope they get the help they need.

  2. Frightening for the people in Japan. Germany have already sent people with regards to the nuclear reactor problem. I have been e-mailling Japanese friends. It is so horrible.
